Interview Surveys can be used to determine traffic flows through different
areas of the place of interest and can be used to determine future needs
in terms of improved road infrastructure, eg bypass. They can also be used
in the planning of developments and the effect these would have on the normal
traffic flow conditions. Identification of specific routes which are undertaken
at different times of the day is possible and is therefore useful when planning
traffic calming works. These can be used to determine more detailed information
as to type of vehicles using the road, what type of goods are being carried,
postcode info on origin and destination vehicle occupancy etc. These surveys
are useful to central and local government when planning a major improvement
or area wide study on transport needs of vehicle drivers. |
